258 Union Street (Nora Hendrix Place)
This temporary modular housing project is now complete and consists of 52 single studio homes in a 3 storey building. Each new unit is around 320 sq. ft., and includes a bathroom and a kitchenette. The building will have a shared commercial kitchen, laundry, and communal amenity spaces (indoor and outdoor). Priority for tenanting is being given to people experiencing homelessness or people at risk of becoming homeless living in the local neighbourhood.
PHS Community Services will be responsible for the maintenance of the building and will provide 24/7 support to tenants.
The City, BC Housing, and PHS Community Services Society are working together with the Hogan’s Alley Society for the new homes to reflect and advance the long term vision of this site developed by the Black community, as part of the Northeast False Creek Plan
The proposed temporary modular housing project will not delay or impede the delivery of the Northeast False Creek Plan, including the removal of the viaducts, and the development of permanent affordable housing
