1580-1582 Vernon Drive
The proposed site at 1580 & 1582 Vernon Drive will accommodate two, three-storey temporary modular housing buildings offering a total of 98 single occupancy studio homes.
Each building will have a commercial kitchen, laundry, and communal amenity spaces (indoor and outdoor). Each new home will be around 320 sq. ft. and will contain a bathroom and a kitchenette. At least 10% of the homes will be wheelchair accessible.
BC Housing has selected Community Builders Group as the non-profit housing operator to oversee tenanting and management of the building, as well as to provide support services to the tenants 24/7, including life skills training, volunteer work, employment preparation, and connections to community-based programs.
Priority for tenanting will be given to people experiencing homelessness or people at risk of becoming homeless living in the local neighbourhood.
